THE Sammy Davis

By Starlight Reporter, Rebecca Parsons, Special Interview and Dennis Nyhagen, Broadcast

Meet Sammy Davis! She's a small town girl living in the Big Apple who left her full time job to pursue her true passion: VINTAGE! Sammy, a mega powerhouse, will be the first to tell anyone who asks...'She loves loving life most of all!'.

Sammy is an incredible stylist, writer and web series host on vintage fashion and thrift store shopping. In April of 2009, she founded Sammy Davis Vintage to make vintage fashion more accessible to the contemporary woman of New York City. Through pop up sales, trunk shows and appearances at flea markets she has firmly established herself as a vintage curator with an eye for the thriftiest vintage finds that stood the test of time – and today’s trends.

Sammy has helped spread the joy of vintage into the closets of contemporary women looking for one-of-a-kind fashion.

Her journey continues as she approaches vintage fashion and thrift store style with an open mind and attitude. She shares her expertise on thrift store fashion styling tips and shopping tricks, how to wear and buy vintage that’s right for you, insights on the history of vintage and its modern day influence.  All totaled, Sammy will inspire within you a spirit of gratefulness and encourage positive thinking.

As a compassionate, driven person, Sammy believes she exists on this planet to inspire and to positively impact the lives of others.  By promoting the creative act of wearing vintage and shopping second hand, she will empower your hearts and minds to reach your full potential as an extraordinary individual.

With tons of possibilities and future plans for Sammy Davis, she continues to grow while never losing sight of her core values and original mission: to help make vintage fashion and thrift store style accessible and fun for the contemporary woman, while educating her on the creative and sustainable virtues of shopping second hand for both the nourishment of the planet and for her soul.

If you are looking for someone to almost effortlessly soar alongside into the world of fashion vintage while feeling revitalized and empowered doing so, Sammy Davis is your go to Vintage Leader!  Her mantra: 'Spreading vintage love to make style peace.'

Chuck Brown

VAV!/May 16, 2012 'It don't mean a thing without the go-go swing.' Chuck Brown, affectionately known as the 'Godfather of Go-Go', has died today at 75 from complications of sepsis after a recent bout with pneumonia.  Brown created a unique go-go sound during the 1970s by combining Latin beats with the African call, response chants and American jazz with a touch of soul.  His trademark music from within the nation's capital, Washington, DC, gained countless fans for Brown.  His musical career began in the 1960s playing guitar with Jerry Butler and The Earls of Rhythm, joining Los Latinos in 1965. Brown's early hits also include "I Need Some Money" and "Bustin' Loose," a song that spent four weeks at the top of the R&B singles chart in 1978 and epitiomized the go-go sound. Brown also recorded go-go covers of early jazz and blues songs, such as "Go-Go Swing" Duke Ellington's "It Don't Mean a Thing If Ain't Got That Swing", "Moody's Mood for Love", Johnny Mercer's "Midnight Sun", Louis Jordan's "Run Joe", and T-Bone Walker's "Stormy Monday". Chuck Brown was born Charles Louis Brown in Gaston, N.C., on Aug. 22, 1936.
