Directly From The Heart~Janet Bernasconi

Ever since I was a little girl I have always loved to create. I try to think of something that appeals not just to my personal taste, but something that I believe comes directly from the heart. I thrive on creativity, and my style shows in my creations. I like to make things that are unique and that will appeal to others as well as inspire.

My Victorian collection draws parallels of yesterday's style in today's world. The mix of both styles helps not only to inspire a vintage look, but take something vintage to transform it into a modern masterpiece. The look of yesterday becomes the look of tomorrow and brings the best of both worlds into one fashionable universe.

Fabulous Foods was a totally crazy way to try out an idea. I started out with some grapes and a peapod pillow, and as the business grew, I got more requests for other types of food and fruits. I have had restaurants, plays, and game show contestants use my line of Fabulous Foods and I am grateful to every single one that has inspired me to take my craft farther.

My Delightful Dolls started as my tribute to the type of dolls that I grew up with. The vintage style that I apply to each one is as unique as each individual doll. I am also extremely pleased that my creations were part of a donation to help mothers and their girls who had had trying experiences with domestic abuse find a little peace with a small token on my behalf.

The best part of what I do is the fact that I am able to use the talent I was given to not only provide original creations to those who like one of a kind items, but to be able to help others. That's the main reason I started my business. I wanted to help my family. If I am able to inspire others, that is more than I can ever hope for.

Pictured above:Château de Rambouillet VAV!/May 18, 2012 At the invitation of the French Government, and in the wake of the economic crisis of the early seventies, the main industrialised democracies convened a high level meeting providing opportunities for informal exchange of views and discussions on strategies that might be adopted to manage serious economic and financial situations. That initial meeting known as the "Group of Six" (G6), since destined to take place every year thereafter, was held in the Château de Rambouillet, just outside Paris in Rambouillet, France on November 15-1, 1975. The meeting was attended by the Heads of State and Government of the main six industrialised countries: US President Gerald Ford, British Prime Minister Harold Wilson, French President Valéry Giscard d'Estaing, German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt, Italian Prime Minister Aldo Moro, and Japanese Prime Minister Takeo Miki.

Donna Summer Dies At 63

VAV!/May 17, 2012 Disco Singer Donna Summer died Thursday morning after fighting a battle with breast cancer. The five-time Grammy winner was known as the "Queen of Disco" and found stellar success in the 1970s with such hits as "Last Dance," "Hot Stuff," and "Bad Girls." Defining an era...Rest In Peace.

The New York Stock Exchange Was Founded

VAV!/May 17, 2012 {play}images/audio/Stockmarketbell.mp3{/play} May 17, 1792, a group of stockbrokers joined together on 68 Wall Street, NYC beneath a Buttonwood tree, where they would sign an agreement establishing the rules for buying and selling bonds and shares of companies. The agreement is known simply as The Buttonwood Agreement. It's reported, at the beginning, there were five securities traded in New York City with the company first listed on the NYSE as the Bank of New York. In total, 24 brokers signed The Buttonwood Agreement, becoming the first NYSE members.

Chuck Brown

VAV!/May 16, 2012 'It don't mean a thing without the go-go swing.' Chuck Brown, affectionately known as the 'Godfather of Go-Go', has died today at 75 from complications of sepsis after a recent bout with pneumonia. Brown created a unique go-go sound during the 1970s by combining Latin beats with the African call, response chants and American jazz with a touch of soul. His trademark music from within the nation's capital, Washington, DC, gained countless fans for Brown. His musical career began in the 1960s playing guitar with Jerry Butler and The Earls of Rhythm, joining Los Latinos in 1965. Brown's early hits also include "I Need Some Money" and "Bustin' Loose," a song that spent four weeks at the top of the R&B singles chart in 1978 and epitiomized the go-go sound. Brown also recorded go-go covers of early jazz and blues songs, such as "Go-Go Swing" Duke Ellington's "It Don't Mean a Thing If Ain't Got That Swing", "Moody's Mood for Love", Johnny Mercer's "Midnight Sun", Louis Jordan's "Run Joe", and T-Bone Walker's "Stormy Monday". Chuck Brown was born Charles Louis Brown in Gaston, N.C., on Aug. 22, 1936.

The Beach Boys - Spreading The Love And Sunshine

VAV!/May 16, 2012 Founded in Hawthorne, California in 1961, The Beach Boys were originally comprised of the three teenaged Wilson brothers: Brian, Carl and Dennis, their cousin Mike Love, and school friend Al Jardine. In 1962, neighbor David Marks joined the group for their first wave of hits on Capitol Records, leaving in late 1963, and in 1965, Bruce Johnston joined the band when Brian Wilson retired from touring to focus on writing and producing records for the group. For five decades, America's first pop band to reach the 50 year milestone has recorded and performed the music that has become the world's favorite soundtrack to summer.
